Trauma informed somatic healing

Living in survival mode

There are times when life feels just too much.

You might feel emotionally numb, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself and others.

You find yourself reaching for anything to escape the present moment: alcohol, substances, food, scrolling, shopping, overworking, or losing yourself in other people's problems to avoid your own.

Your body oscillates between feeling restless, frozen and exhausted - and is holding tension - tightness in your chest, a clenched jaw and a feeling that you can never quite catch a full breath.

Talking about it helps a little, but something deeper still feels unsettled - and you're stuck in cycles of self-blame because you're repeating patterns that have been hurting you for decades.

I want you to know this:

Nothing is 'wrong' with you.

Your system has simply learned how to survive. And survival patterns are not personal failures - they are intelligent adaptations that started a long time ago to keep you feeling safe and comfortable.

The good news is that you can start to shift these patterns at a cellular level and make way for a new way of being.

This work meets you exactly where you are - helping your body gently unwind, and your sense of self-worth, compassion, joy and possibility to return.

Pushing harder is not the answer

Many women come to me feeling like they need to push harder, fix themselves, regulate perfectly, or think their way out of it.

But real, long-lasting change cannot begin from this place. It happens over time, by slowing down, cultivating inner safety with compassion instead of self-attack, and learning how to come back into the body without overwhelm.

This is where deeper change becomes possible - by working directly with the body, not just the mind.

With a sense of inner safety, your body can move out of survival patterns and into greater ease, self-compassion & trust.

This work can support you if:

WORKing TOGETHER

Initial 1:1 Consultation (90 minutes) £110

In this foundational session we will explore your unique needs, patterns, and challenges. Through a guided somatic meditation, you'll connect with what your life could look and feel like 6–12 months from now, using visualisation and somatic techniques to help you embody the possibility of change.

We'll discuss and explore a path forward that honours your pace and feels aligned with where you are now. We finish with Reiki - to allow any insights and shifts to settle and integrate somatically.

You'll leave with a clearer sense of direction and a felt experience of what working together could offer.

Ongoing 1:1 Support

Sessions take place in blocks of 4.  This allows space to build consistency, and honours the fact that deeper transformation happens over time.

In between sessions

Exercises are provided for you to practice - recognising that change happens through repetition, and building small practices over time. Your gentle commitment with my support, outside of our time together, is key to help deepen your progress.

THE JOURNEY

Phase 1: Grounding & Safety (Foundation)

We begin by building connection, exploring your nervous system and practices that can slowly help to soften tension and cultivate a sense of inner safety.

This phase focuses on:

-Grounding and stabilisation

-Nervous system education & regulation

-Cultivating emotional safety in the body

-Gentle somatic awareness

-Sound Therapy and Reiki used in each session for integration

Phase 2: Pattern Awareness & Deepening Self-Connection

Once safety begins to build, we gently explore what sits underneath your survival responses.

This may include:

-Recognising survival patterns

-Understanding emotional coping strategies

-Working with shame and self-blame

-Introducing more active somatic practices & Conscious Connected Breathwork (when appropriate)

-Deeper somatic processing

We are guided by your body and nervous system every step of the way.

Phase 3: Integration & Embodiment

This is where change becomes lived experience.

Change looks like:

-Responding rather than reacting

-Trusting yourself more deeply

-Intuitively knowing how to bring yourself back to calm during challenging moments

-Holding yourself with compassion

-Setting boundaries with more ease

-Feeling more present in your body and life

From here healing becomes something you live, and not something you’re constantly trying to do.

About Rachel

Rachel Broady is a trauma-informed Breathwork Facilitator, Somatic Practitioner, Sound Therapist & Reiki Master Practitioner.

Having walked a path from complex trauma & addiction to healing, she brings not only a wide range of professional training but also the depth of lived experience.

She works with women (35+) who are ready to find more self-compassion, let go of inner criticism, and step out of harmful cycles that once kept them safe but are now no longer serving the life they want to live.

Rachel holds a nurturing, judgment-free space in Berkshire or via Zoom if preferred, where her clients are invited to show up exactly as they are - without needing to wear a mask or appear to have it all together.

Here they are supported to reconnect with themselves on a deeper, more authentic level, regulate their nervous system, and heal at a pace that honours their unique journey.

A little more about the blended approach

We draw from Somatic Breathwork, Somatic Coaching, Sound Therapy and Reiki - blending them in a way that meets your system where it is, session by session.

What makes this approach powerful is not any single modality, but the way they are used together over time - guided by your capacity, your nervous system, and what feels safe enough in the moment.


Somatic Coaching

Somatic Coaching works directly with the body’s felt experience, rather than the mind - helping you notice patterns as they arise in real time. Rather than analysing or overthinking, we learn to understand what your body is communicating and gently begin to shift long-held survival responses from the inside out.


Sound Therapy & Reiki

These practices support deep regulation in the nervous system.

They help to soften tension, create internal safety, and offer your system space to settle without needing to “do” anything.

For many, this is where the first real experience of rest or ease begins to emerge.


Somatic Breathwork

Breathwork is used carefully and intentionally, once there is enough grounding and safety in place.

Depending on what is needed, this may be a more relaxed or more active connected breath practice.

This work allows the body to gently process held survival energy, shift stuck patterns, and reconnect with presence and vitality.

Nothing is forced. The breath is never used to overwhelm the system but rather to support what is ready to move.


A trauma-informed approach

Many of the patterns we work with originally developed as protection. I will not allow you to rush to release or override them. Instead, I prioritise safety first because the body only settles when it feels ready - or safe enough - to do so.

Over time this creates space for greater ease, emotional regulation, self-compassion and a more connected relationship with yourself.
